Tarrell Campbell
Tarrell was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. He came to WashU in 2015 as a Professor of English working with the First-Year Summer Academic Program. In addition to working with students in FSAP over the summer, Tarrell teaches in the College Writing Program at WashU. He became enamored with the College Office because of shared goals focused on preparing incoming first-year college students for the challenges and successes often encountered at WashU. One of the most rewarding parts of his job is helping first-year writers in the discovery of their voices and their writing processes.
An advocate of student health and success preparedness, Tarrell is currently developing approaches to become a student health coach and mentor. Tarrell is also working with the College Office to relaunch the College Intensive Support Program––centered on coping and organizational strategies tailored to WashU student success. He spends almost all of his spare time enjoying the company of his wife and their three cats––Smokey, Craig, and Aoife Grace.
