Warren Davis

Assistant Dean, College of Arts & Sciences
Warren Davis

A St. Louis-native, Warren attended WashU in the 1980s. A German major, he spent the summer after his first year studying the language at the Goethe-Institut in Göttingen, taught as a language teaching assistant in his sophomore year, and studied abroad at the University of Tübingen as a junior. Following graduation, he completed Army Reserve training and then returned to pursue graduate studies in German. Throughout his career, Warren has indulged his passion for the German language and, on occasion, teaches for the German Department.

In 1994, he joined the College as an assistant dean, where among other roles he works with external transfer students coming to WashU from other universities. In 2005, he was recognized by ArtSci Student Council for his commitment to students. In 2007, he received an Arts & Sciences Staff Award, and in 2015, he was selected Student Group Advisor of the Year for his twenty years with the mock trial team. Owing to his passion for gardening, he helps advise the Burning Kumquat, the student-run organic garden.

When he moved with his family to their current residence, where the distance to campus made walking impractical, Warren rediscovered the bicycle and became a committed commuter cyclist regardless of the weather. When not meeting with students, riding his bike or working in his backyard garden, you will find him with a book—he’s an eclectic reader in both German and English.
