Graduate Curriculum Proposals Procedure and Forms

New graduate courses (numbered 5000 and above) as well as revisions to previously-approved courses, new program of study proposals, and program of study modification proposals must be approved by the Office of Graduate Studies Advisory Council. To submit this information to Advisory Council:

  • For new graduate course proposals and revisions to previously-approved courses:
    • Upload one PDF containing the completed New Course Proposal Form, a copy of the syllabus, and any additional forms applicable to your proposal into the Graduate Forms on the ArtSci Portal.
      • The OGS Advisory Council meets monthly during the Fall and Spring semesters. Once Advisory Council has received a complete course proposal form and syllabus, we will review it at our upcoming meeting. Advisory Council will either approve the course, request minor revisions, or request more substantial revisions and a resubmission before it goes to an Arts & Sciences Faculty vote.
      • In order for the course review process to advance as quickly as possible, please thoroughly review the checklist on the New Course Proposal Form and ensure that the course proposal and syllabus contain all necessary components.
  • For new program of study proposals and modifications to previously-approved programs:
