Resources for Staff Development

More than 400 staff members in Arts & Sciences serve in a variety of ways, from providing critical support for academic instruction and business operations to assisting with grants and fundraising to research and leadership roles. Whatever their responsibilities, our staff are a central and committed part of our community, helping us to fulfill our teaching and research missions.

Advance Your Career

University College is the professional and continuing education division of Arts & Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis. Students can earn bachelor’s or master’s degrees, associate’s degrees, certificates, take courses for personal enrichment or study on a noncredit basis. The university provides tuition assistance for eligible courses.

    Washington University provides a Work/Life Services and Employee Assistance Program (EAP) to all benefits eligible employees and their dependents.

  • Professional Leadership Academy & Network

    The Professional Leadership Academy & Network (PLAN) is a year-long professional development program intended to cultivate future leaders and impact tomorrow’s education.

  • Diversity and Inclusion Forum for Faculty & Staff

    DIFFS is a culturally inclusive and supportive network for all underrepresented faculty and staff at Washington University and is committed to supporting a strong diverse and inclusive environment.

  • Staff Ombuds

    Established in 2015, the staff ombuds provides confidential, impartial, informal, and independent conflict resolution and problem-solving assistance to all university staff.

  • Human Resources Staff Courses

    Internal course offerings on best business practices, such as time management and negotiating interpersonal conflict.

  • Danforth Staff Council

    The Danforth Staff Council (DSC) began in 2014 as a working group composed of staff members committed to providing an official voice for staff concerns at the university.

  • Toastmasters-WUSTL Speaks

    A Danforth-based group that provides supportive and positive learning experience in which members are empowered to develop communication and leadership skills, resulting in greater self-confidence and personal growth.
