Mattie graduated from Washington University with degrees in International and Area Studies and Spanish. Before joining the staff here at Wash U, she volunteered for a year in Guayaquil, Ecuador with a small non-profit called Rostro de Cristo. While there, she worked at a local community development nonprofit, Hogar de Cristo, developing youth outreach programs.

Within the Global Studies Program, she is an instructor for our Ampersand First-Year Program, the Global Citizenship Program (GCP), as well as the staff advisor for the university's international honor society, Sigma Iota Rho (SIR). Additionally, she is in charge of coordinating the Global Studies student programming which includes speaker series events, participatory art exhibits, multi-day conferences, graduation celebrations, and much more. Please contact Mattie if you are interested in any of our programs, or if you are interested in collaborating with Global Studies to host an event.
