General apparel guidelines
■ Bright, solid colors photograph well. Avoid busy prints, all-black, or all-white clothing.
■ Don’t wear large/visible logos or branded apparel other than WashU or Arts & Sciences.
In the lab
■ Wear a lab coat.
■ Wear all required protective equipment—goggles, gloves, etc.
Photo releases
■ Consent is not required for Washington University students, faculty and staff. As a courtesy, please advise participants of the purpose of the shoot.
■ Members of the general public must sign a release form.
Before and during the shoot
■ Before, we may arrange lights, perform test shots, etc.
■ During, a variety of settings and poses may be photographed. We welcome your ideas for active, engaging images.
■ We appreciate your patience and cooperation during the shoot.
After the shoot
■ A&S communications staff will select the optimal photos based on the goals of the assignment.
■ Photos will be color-balanced, may receive minimal retouching and may be modified for artistic reasons.
Publication and usage
■ Select images may be made available for use by you, your colleagues and the campus community.
■ Let us know any restrictions on their usage.
