Race and Ethnicity Cluster Hire Initiative

A call for proposals is now open for academic units interested in recruiting one of 12 recently announced faculty cluster hires to their schools or departments.

As Chancellor Martin announced in June, Washington University is making a multi-year investment to build a world-class research program on race through a cluster hire initiative to recruit twelve new faculty members doing innovative work in this area. Over the course of the next three years, through both searches and target of opportunity hires, a university-wide faculty Cluster Hire Review committee (CRC) will work with units to hire these new faculty members. Proposals are welcomed from all fields and departments are encouraged to work together and  actively collaborate in proposing searches. The proposal could take several forms, e.g., multiple units submitting a proposal for a single hire or multiple units submitting a proposal for a “mini-cluster.” Proposals not chosen in year one may be resubmitted the following year.

All preliminary proposals from Arts & Sciences will be also reviewed by an internal A&S proposal review committee that will use the same set of criteria put forth by the CRC and also consider the school's strategic priorities. The internal A&S committee will submit their evaluation and comments directly to the university committee.
