Allan Davis

Allan Davis is an Assistant Dean of Advising in the College of Arts & Sciences. He earned a BA in American Studies and an MA in Theatre History and Theory from Brigham Young University. Afterwards, he completed a PhD in Theatre and Performance Studies at the University of Maryland, College Park. His master’s thesis examined Evangelical Christian haunted houses, his dissertation focused on how Anglo American women used amateur theatre to contribute to the racial formation of whiteness at the turn of the 20th century, and he created a performance piece that explored the ethics of representation by staging Mormon baptisms for the dead. He has a few different interests and a lot of curiosity.

After graduation, Dr. Davis worked at the UMKC School of Medicine’s Office of Admissions. He is motivated by a commitment to make higher education more inclusive and loves helping students navigate complex processes that are new to them. He is excited to contribute to the educational development of students at WashU.

Outside of work, he listens to podcasts and audiobooks; rewatches shows he’s seen multiple times like The Golden Girls, Superstore, Madam Secretary, and The Good Wife. He loves talking about esoteric theatre and history, and he walks his dogs around a lot.
