Amber Burgett

Assistant Dean of Advising, College of Arts & Sciences
Amber Burgett

Amber Burgett is an Assistant Dean of Advising in the PreHealth and the Post-Baccalaureate Premedical programs.

Originally from Dayton Ohio, Amber earned her BS in biology from Denison University and promptly moved to St. Louis to pursue her PhD. in aquatic ecology at Washington University in St. Louis. Amber’s project left a lasting impact on Wash U’s Tyson Research Center as she helped create 12 experimental ponds where she studied the population dynamics of amphibians. She then returned to Ohio and served as a biology professor and eventually Director of General Education at Wittenberg University. Her work revising the general education curriculum and helping students navigate and explore opportunities within college and beyond set the stage for her ultimate return to Wash U as an assistant dean of advising. Amber loves working with students and considers it a privilege to witness their remarkable metamorphosis during their time in college, much like that of her first love, frogs.

In her free time, Amber likes to spend time with her husband, three daughters, and two dogs. She enjoys hiking, crafting, and reading in the little free time she has.
